From the comic world to the real world

Some years ago we had the chance to work with Voodoo Zombie (a Psychobilly local band here in Chile) in the artwork for their album Reviresco, released in 2019.

The initial brief had some great interesting ingredients, like being inspired in classic comic books like Doctor Voodoo and with that starting point, to treat each member of the band as a comic character with a specific personality and role performance.

As comic book characters, these gang had to have special powers and control of some wow elements, so we decided to work on 3 specific levels.

  • ¿What should be the wow scene for the very cover of the artwork?
  • The specific role for each character and their powers.
  • The art direction in order to get a wow look and feel fresh and new compared with the Marvel blockbusters, ‘cause that was a huge pop culture tendence on that time.

We decided to work with a color palette based on blues, ‘cause those colors were far from the color palettes used in the MCU and decided to work with fire and skulls as special supernatural powers, worshiping the classic comic book, Doctor Voodoo. This way, on the front cover they are emerging from another dimension bringing different moods for each character: the witch leader, the sex symbol, the mad boy and the rage.

As a psychobilly band with important background here in Chile and also related with the Zombie Walk, we decided to give a special dark and terror look for the presentation of each character in the booklet.

And all these ideas had to be developed in the photoshoot, when we had the great opportunity to work with a great photographer experienced in advertising campaigns here in Chile, Patricio Pescetto, which was the real icing on the cake.

Take a little time to review again the finished work in our Design section.
